David Rosser, Director of Innovation, Department for Economy, Science and Transport, Welsh Government
David Rosser is the Welsh Government Director of Innovation. He is responsible for directing the Welsh Government’s work on innovation and its support for companies and universities to commercialise knowledge.
Prior to joining the Welsh Government he spent twelve years as CBI Director for Wales and, for much of that time, the South West of England. In this role he was responsible for managing the CBI’s relationships with the Welsh Government, its largest corporate members in Wales and the South West, and was the organisation’s main media spokesman in the region.
He has been a business opinion columnist for the Western Mail, a member of The Prince’s Trust Cymru Council, Chair of the Wales Social Partners Unit Ltd, and a member of the Welsh Government’s Council for Economic Renewal.
He was a member of the Board of Governors of the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff for six years until August 2011, and has been a school governor in the past.
Prior to joining the CBI, he ran one of the Welsh Development Agency’s inward investment teams, following a career in banking.
David was born in Swansea and spent most of his childhood in Neath and Whitland before attending university in London and Cardiff.
